We are looking forward to the next concert, Inviolata with Jacob Heringman in Leominster Priory on Thursday 16th September at 7pm. To book tickets visit our Ticketsource page here . It will be available online from 28th September.
This Friday, 27th August at 6.45pm, we launch the online concert series in our Josquin 500 festival with ‘Pie Memorie’ our Valediction to Josquin in Voices and Viols. In this tribute to the dead composer we imagine Josquin’s friends, colleagues and admirers coming together to pay their funeral respects with viols and voices, perhaps in a canon’s house in his church of Condé sur Escaut, in songs and motets of lamentation and – finally – with Richafort’s profoundly moving Requiem, speeding his soul on to its salvation.
Josquin died on 27th August 1521 in Condé-sur-l’Escaut and left an endowment for the performance of his late motet, Pater noster at all general processions in the town when they passed in front of his house, stopping to place a wafer on the marketplace altar to the Holy Virgin. Pater noster may have been his last work. Our concert with the Binchois Consort features this wonderful piece of music at the end of the first half.

We had a few glorious days rehearsing with Héloïse Bernard in Chacombe, Oxfordshire at Sophie’s Barn . Thank you to Cherry and Stephen Large for making us so welcome in their lovely home.
The programme Baisiez Moy, is a stunning selection of fabulous music. We can’t wait to perform it in Folkestone on 14th August and hope that you can join us. The concert is at 5pm in order to give people time to get the train home and enjoy a day by the seaside!
If you can’t get to Folkestone that day then the concert will be available to watch online from Saturday 28th August until October 31st. Ticket link is here . The concert is in collaboration with Folkestone Early Music.
All the Josquin 500 Festival concerts are in large airy churches and we expect the audience will want to wear face coverings when mingling at the concerts.

Welcome to our first post about the Linarol Consort‘s Josquin 500 Festival. Last year we had the idea to put on a musical celebration of the great Josquin des Prez – Master of the Notes, in 2021 what with it being 500 years since his death on 27th August. The dark days of January and February were spent applying to the Continuo Foundation for a grant to make it possible, and in March we were excited to hear we had been successful.
